About the Teacher
My name is Liz McKenzie. This is my seventh year at Green Woods Charter School and I am looking to another exciting and learning filled year with my new class. I hold a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Arcadia University and am certified in both Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I have varied experience as a classroom teacher, teacher of students with learning differences, and private tutor over the past twenty five years. I have a wonderful husband and three children, Ian age 24( DeVry University), Julia, age 21 (Temple University), and Caroline, age 16 (Junior at Cheltenham High School). I chose to spend to spend time as a stay at home mom and entered back into full time teaching eight years ago. As a parent and teacher, I feel that I have come back to full time teaching stronger and more well rounded.

Not only do I know my craft, but I understand the demands of parenting as well. I believe in setting a tone in the classroom that is warm and welcoming with routines that help my students become confident, independent, and curious learners. My goal is to help each of my students to meet his/her own potential and to foster a love of learning. I look forward to working together with both you and your children this year. Please feel free to email me or leave a message with the school office with any questions or concerns. I will make every effort to get back to you within twenty four hours.

When I find some extra time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, the beach, photography, yoga, picking up a good book, and long walks with our dogs Bonnie and Mabel.

This summer my daughter, Julia, was fortunate enough to study abroad  in Dublin, Ireland and do a media production internship in Galway, Ireland. Ian and Caroline were able to visit her there and all of my babies spent 10 days together traveling in Ireland.

My husband and I celebrated 27 years of marriage and got 10 days at home with no children. We got a little taste of empty nesting and although I missed the kids, I have to say we really enjoyed reconnecting!
I am well rested and ready for a GREAT year!
